For over 20 years\, she has been a faculty member at HPU and has consulted with nonprofits (and churches) in the areas of capacity building\, nonprofit start-up and management\, program development and management\, strategic planning\, organizational development\, staff development\, program evaluation\, and community development. Dr. Palmer established the Guilford County Resource and Referral Center\, a nonprofit that "meets the needs of people by linking and connecting them to resources." She serves on the Steering Committee of the Guilford Nonprofit Consortium and authored and facilitates its Nonprofit Management Institute. She serves or has served on various nonprofit boards and committees including her church\, United Way of Greater High Point\, YWCA High Point\, High Point Community Foundation\, Guilford County Area Mental Health Board\, Mayor of High Point's Workforce Preparedness Task Force\, and American Friends Service Committee. Dr. Palmer earned her Ph.D. in leadership studies and MS in human resource counseling from North Carolina A&T State University\, and BS in business administration from Winston-Salem State University. An NC native\, she was born in Jacksonville\, grew up in Lexington\, and resides in Jamestown. She views herself as a resource for individuals and organizations seeking to develop or enhance their capacity to contribute to their communities.
