Empower to Work with Sherrell Gales
Join us for this no-cost workshop to learn more about Empower to Work, a program created by Abound Health that helps employers build confident, capable workplaces while expanding their talent pipeline. This interactive session will highlight how organizations can be equipped with practical tools, supports, and strategies to successfully hire, onboard, and retain individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how the Empower to Work model supports both employers and employees, from identifying job matches and providing on-the-job supports to creating workplace environments where individuals can contribute and grow. Employers will walk away with tangible resources, real-world examples, and guidance they can immediately apply within their own organizations, regardless of size or industry.
This workshop builds on the conversation started in summer 2025, when employers gathered to explore opportunities to strengthen their staffing strategies and better connect with an often-overlooked segment of the workforce. As a follow-up session, we will go deeper into implementation, what works, where to start, and how local partners can support your team every step of the way.
If you are looking for ways to address workforce needs, strengthen your culture, and connect with motivated jobseekers in our community, this session will provide valuable insights and next steps. We encourage business owners, HR professionals, supervisors, and hiring managers to attend and be part of a growing effort to build a stronger workforce across our region.
Sherrell Gales serves as Supported Employment Manager for Abound Health, a statewide North Carolina provider supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
