In support of the community effort Southern Pines Grows Great Readers Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, the Library is offering an expanded Summer Reading Program. Registration begins Saturday, June 1 at the library and online at www.sppl.net. The theme this summer is ?Dig into Reading,? and includes opportunities for participants of all ages to log their reading and to attend special events at the library. The program and related events are free and open to participants of all ages and reading abilities. Everyone is encouraged to read for at least 20 minutes a day, as research shows this helps students maintain and improve their reading skills. As participants read over the summer and log minutes, they will earn ?book bucks? for every 2.5 hours of reading they complete. They can also earn bucks for attending events and completing other special challenges. Readers can use book bucks to redeem prizes over the summer or save them until the end of the Summer Reading Program to get one big prize! The more book bucks they earn, the bigger the prizes they can receive!
