First Tee-Sandhills Invites Public to View Progress at Future Community Hub Site

First Tee-Sandhills Invites Public to View Progress at Future Community Hub Site
Cameron, N.C. (February 19, 2026) - First Tee – Sandhills is opening its doors to the public
for a gathering at the future site of The Community Hub in Cameron. The event will be
held Thursday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m., giving the community a chance to see the project
taking shape, learn about the vision, and connect with the people helping make it a
reality.

A 34-acre property on the site of reimagined farm land, the Hub is the brainchild of First
Tee - Sandhills, intended to provide area youth and families with year-round access to
affordable golf, life skills education programs and community activities.
The space will also serve as a future home base for First Tee - Sandhills staff as they
continue to deliver programs across the regional office’s nine-county service area.
“First Tee – Sandhills is all about creating opportunity and building character,” said
Courtney Stiles, Executive Director. “This gathering is our chance to share what’s
happening on the property, inspire people to be part of the project, and show the
community how their support can make a real difference.

First Tee broke ground late last year on the site, which will include a family-friendly golf
practice area, nine-hole short course, community pavilion and nature trails, among other
features. The vision for the Hub is to provide free/low-cost recreation for area youth and
build a viable, fun on-ramp for kids to enjoy golf and outdoor activities, beginning in 2027.
See firstteesandhills.org/takingroot/ for more information.

Open and free to the public, this is the first Open House scheduled at the site, giving the
community an insider’s view of the park’s features, talk with golf architects and experts,
and meet the First Tee local team.

Event highlights include
• A look at construction progress on the 34-acre Hub site
• A hands-on exploration of the planned layout
• Insights into how the Hub will serve youth, families, and local programs
After brief remarks, attendees can join a guided tour of the property or explore
independently using a visitor map provided at the event.

Confirmed Field Experts that will be on site to support the community tour and answer
questions will include, but is not limited to,
● Richard Mandell | Founder, Richard Mandell Golf Architecture
● James Ledford | President, Golf Pride, division of Eaton
● Doug Myslinski | Wadsworth Golf Construction, Wadsworth Golf Foundation
