Transportation Associate Job Description
 
EXEMPTION: Non-exempt
 
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist to support collaborative efforts to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the ABC transportation service.
 
PRIMARY TASKS:

  • Model and communicate established transportation policies, goals, objectives, and procedures.
  • Provide positive service to store and MXB/WH personnel. 
  • Ensure safety, health, and security policies and procedures are followed.
  • Participate in loading and unloading merchandise, organizing, and storing it properly.
  • Ensure the transport vehicles remain clean, serviced and organized.
  • Locate merchandise and verify accuracy with delivery specifications and inventory.
  • Transport transfers from store to store, store to warehouses and warehouses to stores.
  • Assist each ABC store with unloading of weekly trucks from LB&B.
  • Assist with the breakage process. (destruction, logging in, contacting distributor representatives, transporting from stores to breakage center at 009 for storage.
  • Assist with the fulfillment of mixed beverage orders as required based on demand and staffing.
  • When implemented, transport delivery service for MXB customers.
  • Support, in action and speech, the stated goals of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Broom/mop
  • Bar code reader equipment
     
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
This position reports to the Transportation Manager
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:  
 
JOB CONTEXT:
  • This position works between 15-20 hours per week.
  • Weekends and overtime are sometimes necessary to fulfil the job duties.
  • The stress level of this job is low to moderate.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED required.
 
  1. EXPERIENCE:
Special consideration given to those with transportation, warehouse or ABC system experience.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Ability to keep a calm and professional demeanor, especially in stressful situations.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English in a capacity sufficient to perform the tasks of the position.
  • Ability to discern product codes and names and complete various inventory forms.
  • Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • General knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • General knowledge of driving light commercial automotive equipment
  • General knowledge of modern storeroom and inventory practices
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers.
  • Ability to develop and effectively maintain relationships with other employees and the general public.
  • Ability to keep themselves in good physical condition.
 
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License; preferably a CDL
