Southern Pines, NC.            Aging Outreach Services and Southern Pines Public Library announce the establishment of a Family Estrangement Support Group. Meetings will be held every other Thursday starting May 2 from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Southern Pines Public Library located at 170 W Connecticut Avenue.

The support group will focus on navigating the challenging journey of estrangement for parents and estranged adult children. Discussions will acknowledge the variety of issues and emotions an estranged person experiences and will provide resources and insights on how to come to terms with this personal journey. All information shared within a support group is confidential.

Jennifer Tyner will facilitate the discussions. Tyner is a trained support group facilitator who has 21 years of experience supporting families as they navigate the challenges of aging. Throughout her career as an Aging Life Care™ Professional, Tyner has worked with families who are dealing with estrangement and has seen the toil unresolved issues bring as older family members age. “My goal is to provide our community with a forum that allows estranged families to break out of their isolation, find a community where they can share their experiences.”

If you are suffering in silence, this family estrangement support group will build a network of trusted friends who understand the challenges you face.  The first meeting is scheduled for May 2 at the Southern Pines Public Library.  For more information and a list of meeting dates, contact Jennifer Tyner at 910.692.0683 or JenniferT@AOSCareManagement.com.
