Rachel’s Refuge Shelter Coordinator
30 hours per week - $14.00 per hour
The Shelter Coordinator oversees and supports Care Coaches and volunteers at
Rachel’s Refuge, ensuring compassionate, uninterrupted care for residents. This role
serves as the primary daytime contact for Care Coaches, provides specialized shelter
training, schedules mentorship opportunities, and coordinates volunteer coverage as
needed. The position also manages calendars, communication, documentation, and
inventory while actively collaborating with leadership. With a focus on both ministry and
operational excellence, this role helps create a safe, structured environment where
women can experience restoration through Christ.
Key Responsibilities
? Oversee and support day/evening Care Coaches and volunteers.
? Serve as the primary contact for Care Coaches during the day shift or by
phone/text from 8 AM–6 PM.
? Lead specific Shelter Training for new Care Coaches not covered in the general
organizational training. This includes training outlined in the Care Coach checklist
aligned with Rachel’s Refuge policies and procedures.
? Schedule mandatory mentorship training, pairing new Care Coaches with
experienced staff to shadow both day and evening shifts.
? Assist with creating, organizing, and overseeing Bloomerang Volunteer to
support volunteer coordination and communication.
? Monitor and update all relevant calendars (casework, resident services,
appointments, staff meetings, etc.) to streamline communication.
? Facilitate documentation and communication of shift changes, resident activities,
and appointments.
? Maintain a current inventory/supply checklist for weekly review.
? Collaborate with the Executive Director to oversee the development and
organization of documentation forms (MAR, PRN, Shift Change, Group Process,
etc.).
? Lead weekly Care Coach Team Meetings (Tuesdays at 4:00 PM via Zoom) and
attend the Leadership Meetings on Fridays from1:30–3:00 PM.
? Conduct quarterly 1:1 meeting with each Care Coach to assess performance,
training needs, and areas of interest.
? Support fire drills and lockdown procedures in coordination with the Maintenance
Director.
? Report any facility-related maintenance issues to the appropriate staff.
? Facilitate resident support groups as needed.
? Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
? Background in psychology, social work, ministry, nursing, or a related field
(preferred).
? Strong, active Christian faith with regular church/small group involvement.
? Understands the plan of salvation and how to gently lead someone into that
experience when the opportunity arises.
? Proficient in Microsoft Office and trauma-informed care practices.
? CPR and First Aid Certification (required).
? Able to climb stairs and physically assist residents when needed.
? Must pass a satisfactory background check.
? Valid driver’s license required.
